Qualifications for the Director of Nursing (DON) position:
The Director of Nursing (DON) position reports directly to the Administrator, and will serve as the day-to-day leader for the nursing department. As such, advanced training in nursing supervision/management is critical, as is sound medical and professional judgment, geriatric experience and top-notch interpersonal skills are essential.
Professional requirements include a current DE RN license, as well as a minimum of 3-5 years supervisory or administrative experience in a long term care setting, preferably in a Director of Nursing (DON) or Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) role.
The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge base in state and federal regulations and have proven leadership and administrative skills, with a professional demeanor.
