POSITION SUMMARY 

The Junior Quality Control Analyst performs microbiological tests to ensure product quality and viability, under applicable GLP guidelines. This position is responsible for providing critical support to the Quality department through performing routine laboratory and general clerical tasks necessary for the daily operation of the laboratory. Stocks and prepares media, reagents, chemical solutions, and stains. Performs basic microbiology laboratory analyses including calibration, tracking, sample preparation, sample analysis, and enumeration by CFU plating and microscopy.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

· Perform aerobic quality control analyses to support manufacturing objectives, and the quality release of products for sale.

· Maintain clear, accurate records of methods and analytical results to facilitate data reporting, archiving, and retrieval.

· Record environmental monitoring and equipment calibrations as required under GMP/GLP.

· Prepare media and reagents.

· Maintain the laboratory in a clean, organized, and supplied state including media preparation, inventory control, and sanitation.

· Assist with experiments and take on independent projects as skills and training allow.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to travel up to 15% of the time.

· Should be capable of walking, bending, and prolonged sitting and/or standing during work hours.

Requirements

 REQUIRED SKILLS:

· Demonstrates aptitude for performing aerobic analytical tests by Standard Operating Procedure (SOP).

· Utilizes aseptic technique to ensure sterility of all media, equipment, and work areas.

· Keeps detailed and accurate records of all tests performed, evaluations/analyses conducted, and training received.

· Communicates any testing nonconformances to Quality Manager, Manufacturing, or Process Development as necessary.

· Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail. Motivated by performing detailed testing methods at high accuracy and repeatability.

· Ability to effectively communicate information and respond to questions from colleagues in other departments.

· Ability to interpret testing results and follow SOP documents for appropriate action.

· Possess a working knowledge of GMP and compliance requirements.

· Skilled in MS Office programs including Word and Excel, and database programs.

· Adept at performing basic liquid handling and plating operations with high accuracy and repeatability.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Minimum bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences or a related field

· Ability to perform basic calculations required for media preparation.
