Revenue Accountant

Description:

Must take a personal and active approach to health, safety and environment and understand and follow all state, federal and company health, safety and environmental requirements applicable to the work area and tasks assigned.

Summary of Position:

This position is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of customer invoices and processing of customer payments. Also responsible for recommending and implementing process improvements in the day to day Accounts Receivable function; specifically relating to the processing of invoices, payments, reconciling of accounts and recognition of revenue for closing periods.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Ensure that the day to day accounts receivable function is executed professionally and with the highest consideration of customer service and minimizing potential payment delays

• Identify areas of improvement in the Accounts Receivable function and implement process changes as required

• Excellent technical abilities and advanced excel and database skills. Ability to quickly learn complex ERP and accounting programs.

• Ability to research and problem solve.

• Must be committed to an accurate and timely work product.

• Takes responsibility for reviewing, preparing and posting transactions to the general ledger, account analysis and account reconciliations.

• Performs small company accounting; including journal entries and close processes.

• Manages customer payments and miscellaneous cash deposits

• Demonstrates ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles to all aspects of accounting duties.

• Performs account analyses and provides meaningful explanations relating to plan/actual variances.

• Performs control activities to comply with any applicable state or federal regulations and maintain appropriate control documentation.

• Prepares work papers that are organized, concise, cross-referenced and supported by conclusions.

• Ability to accurately enter, and manage updates to customer contracts within the invoicing system.

• Active participation in monthly, quarterly, and year end close processes.

• Flexibility to work extra hours when needed in order to meet deadlines.

• Perform accrual and payment of federal and state production taxes and royalties accurately and on time.

Qualifications:

Knowledge and Relevant Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or related discipline or 4 – 6 years relevant experience

• Combination of public accounting and industry experience preferred

• Sound understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Skills:

• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

• Manage multiple assignments simultaneously and have strong organizational skills

• Demonstrated initiative and resourcefulness along with attention to detail

• Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes.

• Ability to be flexible, work with interruptions and shift priorities as required.

• Demonstrates a strong ability to be process driven

• Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness

• Ability to explain the “why” not just the “what”

• Ability to manage “System Changes”, including detailed testing, with team members and the developer.

Leadership/Management:

• Ability to build relationships and work well across functions

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is required to frequently sit with frequent forward bending and occasional rotation. The employee must rarely lift, carry and/or move up to 13 pounds and rarely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is required to rarely push or pull up to 45 pounds horizontally. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required occasionally to walk; climb stairs; and stand with rare rotation. Rarely the employee is required to squat repetitively or reach up to 74”. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Environment: Works in office environment and rarely site environment. This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
