DUTIES

  • You will serve as a senior Subject Matter Expert (SME) for environmental compliance in order to develop technical requirements, prepare justifications, and/or provide technical expertise to leadership and other activities.
  • You will review plans, designs, and construction phases to ensure civil engineering projects remain in scope.
  • You will assess structural condition of facilities to determine needs for repairs and modifications.
  • You will analyze and design extensive structural alterations utilizing design and drafting software.
  • You will perform quality assurance review of drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and studies prepared by A/E design firms.
  • You will advise on solutions to problems encountered during projects and make recommendations for corrective measures.

QUALIFICATIONS

1) Using advanced concepts, principles, and practices in engineering/architecture to enable incumbent to serve as an expert in the complex multiple engineering areas of consultation, design, and construction;

2) Performing structural project development and design;

3) Preparing project specifications and cost estimates; and

4) Utilizing computers for design, drafting and preparation on calculations and structural engineering drawings.

REQUIREMENTS:

Conditions of Employment

  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current waterworks license equal to the highest rated system NAVFAC MIDLANT Utilities standards.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field Facilities Engineering Level III. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • The position is within a regional command and the incumbent serving in this position may at any time, be assigned to any site or workstation within NAVFAC MIDLANT AOR. Travel will be required to other sites within the NAVFAC MIDLANT AOR.
