Job Description

Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer for the Lifting and Handling Equipment Designing Engineering (LHEDE) Unit at the Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) in Idaho. LHEDE provides engineering cognizance for new crane procurement and existing crane upgrades. The selected candidate will be responsible for development of design specifications, review and approval of vendor designs, performance and validation of engineering calculations, on-site inspections and testing, and other roles to support the Lifting and Handling Division at NRF. The selected candidate will also work closely with the Project Management Team to develop and execute project management plans to ensure successful and timely completion of deliverables. This will require effective teaming with other engineers as well as operators, technicians, and inspectors in Lifting and Handling.

Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience; or Currently or previously Shift Supervisor Part I qualified; or EDO qualified and 2 years EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; or 3 years SRE qualified and Water Instructor and Refueling Facility Area Refueling Engineer and Fuel and Barrier Shift Supervisor (ECF only); or SRE qualified and 6 years of experience.

Preferred Skills

Experience with Variable Frequency Drives.
Experience with PLC control systems.
Experience with AC & DC motors.
Experience with Navy Crane Center design requirements (NAVCRANECENINST 11450.2)
Experience with NAVFAC P-307 Manual.

Pay Range

$92,900.00 - $145,200.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation. Naval Nuclear Laboratory personnel are FMP employees who work at four DOE facilities: Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory, Knolls Atomic Power Laboratory, Kenneth A. Kesselring Site, and Naval Reactors Facility, and at the U.S. Department of Defense-owned Nuclear Power Training Unit-Charleston. FMP employees also have an established presence at numerous shipyards and vendor locations. For nearly 70 years, the Naval Nuclear Laboratory has developed advanced nuclear propulsion technology, provided technical support, and trained world-class nuclear operators to ensure the safe and reliable operation of our nation's submarine and aircraft carrier Fleets. The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is a national asset solely dedicated to the Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program. We rely on the dedication and innovation of our nearly 8000 engineers, scientists, technicians, and support personnel.
