Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for a Web Content/Communication Specialist III in Los Alamos, NM.

Immediate need.

Seeking mid to late-career SEO writer to drive the future of web content at one of the world's most prestigious institutions, Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Join LANL's Institutional Web Team to support the lab's internal and external websites. The successful candidate will be highly proactive, collaborate well and have masterful communication and writing skills.

This position will support the Los Alamos National Laboratory as a Navarro employee in a staff augmentation position.

DESCRIPTION

As a Web Content Specialist/Communications Specialist III, you will collaborate with subject matter experts, communication specialists, and other web team members to produce websites. You will revise existing websites, write new web content, and implement web pages in a web Content Management System (CMS). You will incorporate SEO best practices, follow website template guidelines, and use metrics to inform and adjust website implementation in pursuit of strategic communication objectives.

Responsible for a wide variety of internal and external communications activities, strategic and tactical, conceptual and deliverable. Attains measurable results and improves continuously.
An experienced professional with a full understanding of specialized area plus working knowledge of related fields. Adept at solving a range of complex problems. Contributes to the development of organization's goals and objectives. Works under limited direction; receives general instructions on new assignments. Work is evaluated upon completion to ensure objectives have been met. Demonstrates good judgment. Determines approach to solutions, plans and schedules activities to accomplish objectives. Must be receptive to coaching, education, and constructive criticism. Must learn to provide effective feedback to others, upward and downward.

Requirements

Education
Master's degree in web, communications, marketing, business, computer science, or other relevant degree and a minimum of four years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation

Necessary Skills

  • Skilled in industry-relevant design and illustration software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite). Has an understanding of photography and design and can make adjustments to photos and graphics ensuring they are the right quality, dimensions and format for web use.
  • Ability to do manipulation and conversion on files, such as converting file types, optimizing PDFs and making PDFs meet accessibility requirements.
  • Understanding of search engines to optimize front matter and metadata.
  • Experience with accessibility requirements such as Section 508 Compliance and accessibility tools (e.g., Siteimprove).
  • Experience creating engaging and shareable digital content.

Knowledge and Expertise

Expert proficiency in the web copywriting and website implementation fields. Ability to translate complex, technical and jargonized content into a format that is both appropriate for the web and aimed at technical and non-technical end users. Expert proficiency at organizing pages into sitemaps. Expert proficiency organizing content within web page layouts to support usability and website communication objectives. Expert proficiency executing on-page and off-page SEO activities such as keyword research and optimizing metadata. Mastery of digital communication standards, guidelines, and best practices, especially as they relate to accessibility and SEO. Ability to follow standards, best practices and demonstrate good judgment when implementing web content.

Tools and Systems

Expert proficiency implementing websites in a web Content Management System (CMS). Expert proficiency using tools and methods for information architecture activities such as creating sitemaps. Expert proficiency using tools and methods for collaborative communication and project management. Expert proficiency collecting metrics and conducting SEO activities using tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console and SEMRush. Expert proficiency interpreting data and creating dashboards and reports. Expert proficiency using data to inform strategy.

Communication

Ability to conceptualize and communicate program requirements and detailed elements to both technical and non-technical personnel. Demonstrated skill with interpersonal, written, and verbal communication. Organization skills with high attention to detail and accuracy. Experience collaborating with developers, designers, and product stakeholders.

Additional Job Requirements

The successful candidate will be highly detail-oriented, proactive, and a problem-solver, capable of coming up to speed quickly and delivering top-level customer service in a fast-paced environment.
