Clinic/Ambulatory Registered Nurse

Overview:

  • Job Category: Acute - Nursing - Local
  • Skills: Two years of Med/Surg or clinic experience is required. IV insertion and phlebotomy skills are required
  • Education: RN License - required -Primary Source Verification - required - AHA BLS - required
  • Certifications & Licenses: RN License

Responsibilities:

  • Provides professional nursing care within an outpatient clinic setting and coordinates care planning with other disciplines as appropriate.
  • Adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program and safety standards.
  • Cooperates with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives and infection control policies.
  • Prepares patients for scheduled procedures and assists in patient assessment. Accurately records history and performs basic triage procedures per policy.
  • Retrieves initial basic condition of patients, creates nursing history and reports to appropriate practitioner.
  • Demonstrates sensitivity to patient's comfort and privacy by using the AIDET fundamentals of communication.
  • Assists providers with examinations, procedures and other processes related to direct patient care.
  • Maintains a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families during their visit.
  • Monitors and ensures accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintains all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
  • Ensures an adequate stock of supplies and well-maintained equipment.
  • Inspects area daily for compliance with policies, procedures, regulations and standards and takes corrective action when violations occur.
  • Schedules all outside patient appointments per physician order and relays accurately to patients.
  • Take calls from hospitals/nursing homes and relays appropriate information to practitioner in a timely manner.
  • Assure test results are received and relayed to the patient in a timely manner.
