Position Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Interim Dietary Manager to join our Long Term Care facility for a 13-week assignment. The Interim Dietary Manager will oversee all aspects of the dietary department, ensuring that residents receive high-quality, nutritious meals that meet their dietary needs. This role involves managing dietary staff, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and maintaining excellent standards of food service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leadership & Management:

  • Supervise and manage dietary staff, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure the dietary team delivers high-quality food service and maintains a positive and productive working environment.
  • Address and resolve any personnel issues within the dietary department.

• Menu Planning & Food Preparation:

  • Develop and implement menus that meet the nutritional needs and preferences of residents, considering any dietary restrictions or special requirements.
  • Oversee food preparation and ensure meals are prepared and presented to the highest standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews of menu plans and make adjustments as necessary.

• Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the kitchen and dining areas to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
  • Implement and monitor food safety protocols to prevent foodborne illnesses.

• Budgeting & Inventory Management:

  • Manage the dietary department budget, including cost control and expenditure tracking.
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, monitoring stock levels, and reducing waste.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure cost-effective purchasing agreements.

• Resident & Family Engagement:

  • Communicate with residents and their families to address dietary concerns and preferences.
  • Provide education on nutrition and dietary health as needed.
  • Foster a welcoming dining environment that enhances the overall well-being of residents.

Qualifications:

• Education & Experience:

  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or similar certification.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in dietary management, preferably in a long-term care or healthcare setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition, food service management, and dietary regulations.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using dietary management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.

Working Conditions:

• The position involves working in a long-term care facility with a diverse resident population.
• May require occasional evening, weekend, and holiday work to meet the needs of the facility and residents.
• Physical requirements include standing for long periods, lifting and carrying food supplies, and navigating the kitchen and dining areas.
