Physical Therapist Assistants (PTAs) implement components of patient care, obtain data related to the treatments provided, and collaborate with the Physical Therapist (PT) to modify care as necessary. PTAs assist the physical therapist in treating individuals of all ages, from newborns to people at the end of life.

• Help patients stretch and exercise specific muscle groups.
• Follow instructions from the Physical Therapist to carry out treatment plans.
• Work directly with the Physical Therapist to assist patients.
• Communicate with families to determine the best at-home techniques for patient care.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the physical therapy area.
• Assist patients in transferring from wheelchairs or walkers to the physical therapy area.
• Complete administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments and filing paperwork.
• Teach patients techniques such as balance training.

• Minimum of 1 year of physical therapy experience (required).
• Experience in Long Term Care (LTC) or Rehabilitation (required).
• Valid Physical Therapist Assistant license (required).
