Job Description

NBC 4 New York is looking for a self-starter with strong writing skills. Candidates must understand the power of visual storytelling. They must be well-versed on social media and understand how to gather the best video content online. They must also thrive under pressure. New York is a big breaking news market so it’s important that candidates have a strong desire to deliver news as is happening.

· Work closely with EPs, Show Producers, Anchors, Reporters and Assignment Editors.

· Ability to write, desktop edit and gather content for all of WNBC’s platforms.

· Produce under heavy deadline pressure without compromising credibility.

· Understand graphic programs to visually enhance and showcase stories with production.

· Use social media tools to stay on top of news events and compelling video/pictures.

· Collaborate with members of the WNBC team across all platforms to ensure the most complete local news coverage is both fair and accurate.

• Salary range: 70k-105k

Qualifications

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in newsgathering and/or production.

· Minimum 3 years’ experience writing, producing and desktop editing systems.

· Knowledge of various media platforms, including broadcast, web and mobile.

· Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or equivalent work experience.

Eligibility Requirements:

· Must be willing to work in New York City.

· Must be able to work evenings, overnights, weekends, holidays or whenever assigned.

· Must be at least 18 years old.

· Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States.

· Must have a valid driver’s license.
