POSITION OVERVIEW
NBME® is seeking a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Director. The DEI Director will lead the DEI Advisory Council and employee resource groups, playing a key role in executing NBME's DEI strategy in partnership with the Chief DEI Officer. This leadership role involves developing and executing roadmaps to advance DEI and managing the organization's DEI initiatives in response to internal and external trends. Reporting to and partnering with the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer, the DEI Director will also supervise DEI unit staff.
This role requires an inclusive and collaborative leader who can engage with all organizational levels and influence actions and outcomes without direct accountability. Key competencies include effective collaboration, stakeholder management, and the ability to build and maintain strategic relationships. Strong candidates will have a passion for DEI, visionary thinking, and the ability to create programs that support a culture of inclusion and belonging. They should be execution-oriented, detail-oriented, data-driven, agile, adaptable, driven, and comfortable working independently.
This role has been designated as remote eligible. Onsite presence in our PA headquarters will generally be required quarterly and there may be other in-person meetings, as needed. We're open to considering candidates in the following states: PA, DE, MD, NJ and VA.

RESPONSIBLITIES
  • Partner with Chief DEI Officer to evolve DEI strategy
  • Develop implementation plan, goals, metrics, and budget
  • Partner with executive leadership to ensure DEI goals are tied to strategic business goals and embedded throughout all initiatives
  • Provide strategic leadership on policies, best practices and change management in DEI to further a climate of equity and inclusiveness
  • Partner with business unit leaders and serve as a DEI thought leader
  • Lead DEI Advisory Council and provide oversight of employee resource groups
  • Clearly articulate and reinforce DEI strategy and the organization's business case for diversity
  • Work with HR, and talent management to implement DEI internal education and learning and development programs
  • Leverage expertise to advise HR and ensure the inclusiveness of core people and talent-related processes, retention and promotion processes, and assist with targeted diversity recruiting efforts
  • Define metrics that measure impact of DEI program; track progress against metrics that drive DEI accountability and create data-driven insights for greater future impact in the organization
  • Develop recommendations and best practice resources for deployment by business unit leaders
  • Ensure the DEI program engages internal stakeholders and drives accountability across the organization
  • Collaborate with the communications department to develop DEI communications strategy
  • Remain current on emerging DEI practices through external networks and organizations

  • High level of technological literacyparticularly Microsoft Suite, including Teams and One Note; experience with SharePoint is a plus
Experience
  • 10 or more years of work experience with progressive responsibility
  • Experience working on DEI strategy and initiatives in a corporate, nonprofit, educational or community organization
  • Experience developing or facilitating programs covering unconscious bias, courageous conversations, inclusive leadership, and cross-cultural competencies and communications
  • Experience in Education, Medical Education or Assessment is a plus
Education
  • Bachelors' Degree or equivalent work experience
