NC Department of Adult Correction is Hiring a Clinical Social Worker-Johnston Correctional Near Johnston, NC

Description Of WorkThis is an anticipated vacancy.Clinical Social Worker is located at Johnston Correctional Institution in Smithfield, NC. Johnston CI is a minimum custody facility that can house up to 640 offenders, including 28 Restrictive Housing Beds. Work in this class is responsible for providing intensive social work services in serious and complicated cases which require the flexible use of a wide range of social work skills and intervention techniques. Services are provided in a correctional facility, juvenile justice facilities, and state institutions. Clients/patients have specialized dementia, mental health, substances abuse and /or developmental disability issues and management of suicide precautions. Work may involve providing in-depth assessment of individuals and family dynamics and needs, assessment, intervention and treatment of patients/clients and or families. Employees work with patients/clients and families to develop treatment plans and discharge plans into the community. The discharge planning involves coordination with a variety of community-based service providers.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits .
NC Department Of Adult Correction (DAC)The Dept. of Adult Correction is responsible for the care, custody and supervision of all adults sentenced after conviction for violating North Carolina laws. This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities / CompetenciesThe Knowledge, Skills and Abilities listed below, along with the Minimum Education and Experience requirements, are REQUIRED to qualify for this position. We will not review resumes in lieu of Experience and Education listed on the application.
To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess the following:
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social work principles, techniques, and practices, and their application to casework, groupwork, and community problems.
  • Documented experience in administering clinical services to an adult population.
Minimum Education And Experience RequirementsMaster's degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of supervised social work experience as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board.
Necessary Special Qualification- one must fulfill all requirements for Licensure in North Carolina as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker as required by the North Carolina Social Work Certification and Licensure Board. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements for Trainee Appointment - Master's degree from an appropriately accredited school of social work.
