NC Department of Adult Correction is Hiring a Correctional Lieutenant III Near Montgomery, NC

Description Of WorkReporting to the Correctional Captain III, this position is responsible for independently providing support to the Correctional Captain III at a multi-level custody correctional facility. Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Providing supervision for subordinate staff, conducting shift line-up, making shift assignments, and inspecting all personnel to determine if they are physically and mentally capable of assuming an assigned post.
  • Completing, reviewing, and maintaining employee time reports, duty rosters, leave schedules, performance evaluations, and administrative forms.
  • Conducting investigations as assigned both for offender and employee disciplinaries.
  • Monitoring and maintaining assigned employee equipment, ensuring that all assigned equipment is operational.
  • Conducting inspections of housing units and other buildings, grounds, and posts to ascertain correctional officers are alert, discipline is being maintained, DAC policy is being followed, and assignments are carried out properly.
  • Identifying training needs and coordinating delivery of training to subordinate staff.
  • Conducting searches of staff, visitors, and offenders for contraband.
  • Responding to emergency situations, as needed.
  • Serving as the Officer-in Charge (OIC) of the facility in the absence of the Correctional Captain, as needed.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits .

This department includes State Prisons with custody, healthcare, and facility operations staff as well as the division of Community Supervision. Other divisions include Administration, Compliance & Accreditation, Comprehensive Health Services, Internal Affairs & Intelligence Operations, Post-Release Supervision & Parole Commission, and Rehabilitation & Reentry.
About Southern Correctional InstitutionSouthern Correctional Institution is located in Troy, North Carolina and houses up to 700 male offenders in a close, medium, and minimum custody facility.
