NCCF is Hiring a Janitor Near Washington, DC

Position Purpose:Responsible for ensuring that building is cleaned and properly maintained. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain the overall cleanliness of the inside and outside of the building.
  • Maintain curb appeal by ensuring trash is removed from property.
  • Clean and Sanitize surfaces in all common area spaces.
  • Cleans floors by sweeping, mopping, and scrubbing.
  •  Gather and empty trash.
  • Service, clean, and supply the restrooms.
  • Clean and sanitize trash cans monthly.
  • Clean and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors.
  •  Dust furniture; wipe walls, machines, and equipment.
  •  Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors.
  • Operate equipment required to perform cleaning work, including industrial vacuum cleaners and floor polishers.
  • Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, and supplies.
  • Set up, arrange, and remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, and other equipment to prepare facilities for meetings and other events.
Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Be able to adhere to the DHS and TCP contractual requirements.
  • Attend mandatory trainings.
  • Ability to work with other janitorial staff.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • 2 years of janitorial experience; multi-family housing experience is a plus.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Must have great customer service skills and a positive and friendly attitude towards staff and residents.
  • Ability to keep up with the physical demands of being on your feet and walking for much of the day.
  • Ability to follow directions, work independently, and be a self-starter.
  • Must be able to complete cleaning duties checklist daily.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of how to properly use commercial grade and eco-friendly cleaning supplies.
Physical Demands/Work Environment:While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers to handle or feel. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required y this job require close vision working with a computer monitor. While performing the duties of this job, employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. While performing the responsibilities of the employee’s job, these work environment characteristics are representative of the environment the Human Resources Director will encounter.
