POSITION: Agriculture Instructor (Agronomy/Precision Agriculture)

LOCATION: NDSCS – Wahpeton, North Dakota

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track, benefited position

JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time, 9-month instructional position in the Agriculture Department. Primary instructional responsibilities would consist of teaching courses related to agronomy and precision agriculture. Depending on the successful candidate’s qualifications, teaching could include topics such as precision equipment, ag mechanics, ag business, and ag sales. Supervision of summer internship experiences will be compensated under a separate contract. Internship visits occur during the summer and require travel, including overnight stays (valid driver’s license required). Other duties include curriculum development & revision, student advisement, assisting with student organization activities, student recruitment, committee participation, assessment of student learning, assisting with the NDSCS Kosel Family Agriculture Land Lab, and related departmental and college responsibilities.

SALARY: Starting at $57,440 commensurate with education and experience

• Must support the mission, vision, and values of NDSCS.
• Associate degree in agronomy or precision agriculture and related industry experience, with the ability to achieve a bachelor’s or master’s degree.
• Demonstrated competency in at least two of the following areas: agronomy, precision agriculture, and precision equipment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Computer and technology literate
• Hold a valid driver’s license.
• Motivated, self-directed, & able to work effectively & professionally with students & staff in a team setting.
• Ability to articulate and support the two-year postsecondary college philosophy with a commitment to teaching and learning in a two-year college setting.

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree or higher in a related Agriculture field
• Successful college or secondary teaching experience
• Demonstrated competency in other agriculture topics such as animal science, agriculture sales, ag business farming/ranching experience.
• Holds a current Certification by North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education.
