Job Summary The certification board of Sterile Processing Distribution assists in maintaining infection control compliance with the required standards of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the Department of Health, Joint Commission and OSHA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES : Decontaminate and reassemble soiled surgical instruments, checking for defects, and oversee daily sterile processing.
Coordinate the sterile processing performance improvement program, including identifying need for and recommending corrective action.
Develop and coordinate orientation and ongoing activities to ensure staff knowledge of the prevention of infection transmission to patients, staff and visitors.
Operate all sterilization equipment, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of isolation concepts and sterile and reusable supplies storage and use.
Participate in departmental committees as requested or assigned to provide Infection Control expertise, disseminate surveillance findings, update Committee’s Infection Control knowledge, and assist with corrective actions designed to prevent and control infections.
