NEL Hydrogen is Hiring a System Administrator Near Wallingford, CT

You will be a part of a skilled team of IT professionals in Norway and the US and work closely with the other internal and external stakeholders and vendors. The System Administrator will be based full-time in Wallingford, CT.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Design, implement and maintain secure, scalable, and cost-effective on-prem and cloud-based infrastructure solutions, including servers, networking devices, storage systems, virtualization and cloud platforms.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, processes, and cloud services to enhance the efficiency, reliability, and security of the infrastructure, and support current and future business needs.
  • Manage and administer physical and virtual servers, ensuring high availability, performance, and security and migrate on-premises workloads to the cloud where applicable.
  • Configure and maintain networking equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls.
  • Monitor the performance and capacity of the infrastructure, identifying and resolving any issues or bottlenecks proactively.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery solutions to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
  • Implement and maintain security measures to protect the organization's data and infrastructure from cyber threats.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to design and implement integrated solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration management using tools like Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and best practices in infrastructure architecture, system administration, and cybersecurity.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other team members and stakeholders.
Educational & Professional Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field, and 1-3 years of relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in a System Administrator role preferred.
  • Proven experience in designing and managing IT infrastructure, both on-premises and in the cloud with strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and services.
  • Strong knowledge of server operating systems (Windows Server, Linux), virtualization technologies (VMware), and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls).
  • Experience with storage technologies (SAN, NAS) and backup solutions.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
