Join NELLSON and Become Part of a Winning Team of Professionals! We currently have an immediate opportunity for a Production Supervisor to join the BAR DIVISION at our ONTARIO, CALIFORNIA location. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Shift Hours: 3am - 3:30pm; weekend availability required Job SummaryThe Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating the production department to manufacture a quality product in a safe and productive work environment.

Qualification And Experience
  • 3 years’ experience working in manufacturing as a Supervisor or a similar role
  • Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering or Business-related field
  • Associate degree acceptable w/minimum 5 years of similar work experience
  • Bilingual Spanish language skills required
  • Leadership skills to effectively administrate all activities and duties listed above.
  • Ability to interact with all employees in a professional, cooperative and constructive manner.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with a wide variety of people (written and verbal).
  • Personal computer skills with a variety of software programs that support the manufacturing environment.
  • Quality assurance and control including the use of statistical analysis/methods.
  • Experience working in an FDA regulated environment
  • Experience with Lean Sigma (DMAIC)
  • ISO 9000 experience.
  • Food process and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, JIT tools and/or best manufacturing practices.
  • Excellent attention to detail including accurate record keeping.
  • Able to work extended hours on occasions when required.

Essential Functions/Job DutiesEmployee Relationship
  • Accomplishes manufacturing staff results by communicating job expectations; planning, monitoring, and appraising job results; coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, and procedures.
  • Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees, developing personal growth opportunities.
  • Resolves personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Conduct annual performance reviews for employees in all departments of responsibility.
  • Meet with department personnel on areas needing enhancement or modification.
  • Provide daily feedback to employees on their performance and formally through written performance evaluations.
  • Establish and maintain acceptable work practices among employees.
  • Ensure employees follow all company policies and procedures.
  • Promote employee motivation through positive communications and pro-active problem solving.
Department’s Performance
  • Floor Rounds :
    • Perform periodical floor rounds (SAT) to evaluate shift condition and identify lead’s support areas.
    • Maintains workflow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
    • Establish priorities in accordance with given guidance and direction in areas that require attention.
    • Monitor procedures to ensure product is properly packed based on Product Specs.
    Review accuracy of processing records and report deviations.
    • Maintain production areas fully equipment with all materials needed for production.
    • Manage the daily workflow and implement process changes, ensuring productivity standards and goals are met.
    • Changeover Performance:
  • Ensure changeover are done efficiently following procedures for sanitation cleaning (scrape, half wash, full wash, etc.) and product changeover.
  • Operating Procedures (POP):
  • Be familiar with established P.O.P.’s and assure implementation
  • Evaluate departments' production performance compliance to Production Operating Procedures (P.O.P.’s) adjusting procedures and priorities as needed.
  • Supervise the processing area, Packing and Palletizer activities to ensure that the departments perform within established P.O.P.’s, and results meet or exceed company goals.
  • Implement and follow the product changeover procedures.
  • Reporting:
    • Perform daily evaluation of department’s performance.
    • Provides manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data, answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Schedule:
    • Review Pack Plan, comparing actual versus planned, and justify variances.
    • Completes production plan by scheduling and assigning personnel; accomplishing work results; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising schedules; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Communication:
  • Discuss with the Director of Production and/or Production Manager any situations that affect the department’s goal attainment and suggest solutions.
  • Maintain effective communication with other supervisors concerning mutual problems.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, record-keeping systems, forms of control, and budgetary and personnel requirements; implementing change.
    • Cost:
      • Keep production cost to a minimum while producing quality products.
    Food Safety and Quality
    • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal food safety laws including applicable parts of the Code of Federal Regulations, FDA Food Code and Good Manufacturing Practices Regulations including SQF system and industry best practice.
    • Assure Proper Product Safety, Quality, Production Efficiency and Employee Safety Objectives are Implemented and Followed.
    • Monitor applicable hygiene, safety and health rules and regulations to ensure they are followed.
    • Orient and assist subordinates in relation to their performance, assuring employees are treated in a professional and respectful manner.
    • Adheres to all Food Safety/Quality SOP’s
    • Communicates any known or suspected Food Safety/ Quality issues to the Production Manager or Supervisor, Q.A. Department or Management.
    • Attends Food Safety/Quality training sessions.
    • Maintains quality service by establishing and enforcing organization standards
    Safety Activities
    • Responsible for ensuring safety in the plant. Ensure a safe work environment by ensuring safe work behaviors and safe work conditions and correct any deficiencies in a timely manner. Monitor’s building security. Implement and sustain good housekeeping and organizational environment through the use of 5S.
    • Participate in, and support all safety program elements, directed towards meeting the plant’s TIR (Total Incident Rate) goal established each year. This includes safety training, inspections, incident investigations, incentive programs, and any other safety-related activities.
    • Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety rules.
    • Enforce safety procedures, PPEs, food safety standards and company policies.
    • Documenting all accident/incidents and reporting to HR Department.
    • Respond to workplace injuries by providing 1st aid for your crews or by taking employee to received medical attention at our Medical Center.
    • Maintains safe and clean work environment by educating, implementing good housekeeping and directing personnel on the use of all control points, equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
    • Ensures operation of equipment by calling for repairs, evaluating new equipment and techniques.
    • Maintain a safe and productive working environment
    Other Duties
    • Schedule regular meetings with employees so they can be informed of future events, work schedules, and allow time for any feedback or questions.
    • Monitor department’s absences, breaks and meal periods to comply with State Laws and Company Policies.
    • Assist in the recruitment, selection, promotion, counseling and termination of employees.
    • Provide employees with work assignments, training, feedback, coaching, support, and development opportunities.
    • Approve all employee hours and make any adjustments for payroll in the computerized timekeeping system.
    • Work closely with the Production Manager to execute projects.
