Nelson Connects is Hiring a Community Events Coordinator Near Oakland, CA

Community Events Coordinator

You are an Events Coordinator who will assist with events marketing and communications efforts, event production, vendor management, volunteer recruitment and management, constituent outreach, and some fundraising.

This position pays: $23.00 -$26.00.

Location: Hybrid Oakland, CA

What you will be doing:

Fund Raising and marketing:

  • Create and deploy materials for fundraising and marketing.
  • Manage participant mailings, event print materials, and correspondence.
  • Handle social media outlets and press releases.
  • Reach out to assigned teams with coaching and check-in calls.
  • Plan regional event kickoff and thank-you receptions.
  • Promote events at community tables and train volunteers for promotion.

Logistics Planning:

  • Coordinate and lead logistics subcommittee meetings.
  • Obtain permits and approvals from jurisdictions and city officials; adjust routes as needed.
  • Work on site planning for rest stops and festival sites with supervisors.
  • Negotiate and secure event vendors; ensure timely billing/payment.
  • Maintain event production with a focus on health and safety.
  • Provide on-site management for satisfactory outcomes.
  • Collaborate with vendors for fundraising incentives and print materials.
  • Manage design and printing of invitations, signage, banners, etc.
  • Identify methods to minimize expenses.
  • Recruit, train, and manage volunteers.
  • Manage event inventory and order supplies when necessary.

What you bring:

  • Commitment to accuracy, efficiency and follow through.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize multiple projects/duties when faced with interruptions, fluctuating workload, and conflicting deadlines, and complete them in a timely manner.
  • Strong organizational skills with proven ability in scheduling and coordinating logistics for meetings, special events, and mailings.
  • Proficiency using the Internet, Google Suite, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of design software, i.e. Canva, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or Microsoft Visio.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, including the ability to prepare and proofread clear, concise, and grammatically correct business correspondence.
  • Insured driver with access to a vehicle, as occasional road travel will be required.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds and work occasional evenings/weekends.
