Position SummaryWe are seeking an Associate Director, Clinical Scientist with expertise in cell and gene therapy products. In this role, you will contribute to research strategy and address business and regulatory issues in cell and gene therapy. You will impact the organization at a high level. The ideal candidate will bring a strong scientific background, exceptional leadership skills, and a passion for driving innovation in cell therapy delivery.
Location: Available in Gaithersburg, MD, New York City, NY, Waltham, MA, or South San Francisco, CA.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with clinical scientists within the Cell Therapy Delivery Team and across therapeutic areas to support cell and gene therapy programs.
  • Partner with program and study-level Cell Therapy Delivery Team and Therapeutic Area physicians or clinical leads, providing medical and scientific guidance.
  • Play a pivotal role in advancing our cell therapy studies, from design to execution, including protocol development, data analysis and interpretation, and ensuring our research remains at the forefront of innovation, and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and best industry practices.
  • Lead process improvement initiatives and foster the professional growth of junior clinical scientists, fostering their professional growth.
  • Contribute strategic insights to drive the success of the global clinical scientist team and shape the future of cell and gene therapy programs.
  • Engage with a diverse network of business partners, both internally and externally, to amplify the impact of our work. Design and oversee preclinical and clinical studies to evaluate novel cell therapy delivery approaches.
  • Analyze and interpret complex scientific data to drive decision-making and optimize cell therapy delivery protocols.
  • Stay abreast of the latest advancements in the cell therapy landscape, and incorporate relevant findings into project strategies.
  • Represent the Cell Therapy Delivery Team in internal and external meetings, presenting scientific findings and progress updates as required.
  • Foster a culture of scientific excellence, innovation, and collaboration within the team and across the organization.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • Bring extensive experience and a passion for developing cell and gene therapy products.
  • Have prior experience in oncology or immunotherapy drug development.
  • Demonstrate a proven track record of thriving in complex, fast-paced environments, showcasing strong leadership skills and excellent cross functional communication shine.
  • Possess proven leadership and mentorship skills.
  • Exhibit exceptional communication skills with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Show expertise in the design, execution, and analysis of preclinical and clinical studies.
  • Have a strong understanding of cell therapy study conduct, vein-to-vein processes, regulatory requirements in cell and gene therapy studies, and industry best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience working with regulatory agencies and supporting IND/BLA submissions for cell therapy products, including RMAT and other regulatory applications.
  • Deep understanding of emerging technologies and platforms in cell therapy delivery, as well as knowledge of cell therapy trial designs that have enabled successful BLA applications.
  • Proven experience in advancing rheumatology or rare disease programs.
Education And Experience
  • Advanced degree in a relevant scientific discipline (MD, PhD, PharmD, Masters).
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in cell therapy research and development.
The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Santa Monica, CA is $160,000 to $186,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc.
