NESCO Resource is Hiring a Quality Specialist Near Melville, NY

Nesco Resource, a national staffing firm, has partnered with a leading manufacturer to identify a Quality Specialist.
FUNCTION:
Perform various quality related functions within the client quality program to develop, apply and maintain quality requirements for processing components/materials into finished product.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Drive the process improvements throughout our organization.
  2. Implements established methods and procedures for testing and inspecting the quality level of products and production equipment.
  3. Analyzes failure reports and returned products and report corrective action to customers.
  4. Prepares and maintains defect trend analysis reports.
  5. May be required to witness in-plant testing of electronic equipment in accordance with an approved test procedure.
  6. Inspects a variety of complex electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical items for workmanship acceptability as well as complex and precision mechanical parts and assemblies for acceptability by using a variety of tools, gages, and basic shop math.
  7. Records results of inspections in the MRP system and prepares inspection reports, identifying approved and rejected quantities.
  8. Instructs and trains employees in processes or methods in accordance with departmental procedures, practices and/or process sheets.
  9. Be responsible for performing source inspections and reducing the variability of purchased materials through strong leadership and continual improvement of supplier quality planning processes.
  10. Maintains quality standards by approving in-process production, and finished products and recording quality results.
  11. Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, and alloys conducting visual and measurement tests, rejecting, and returning unacceptable materials. Establish and maintains a vendor/outsource database. Manages all non-conforming materials.
  12. Perform internal quality audits and external supplier quality audits.
  13. Maintains a positive work environment by professional and courteous conduct and communications with others, including supervisors, co-workers, clients, and vendors.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Associate degree or ASQ-CE certification or equivalent experience required.
  • J-STD-001 and IPC-610 knowledge and/or certifications required.
  • 5 years experience in quality control inspection with electronic components as well as Quality Assurance/Manufacturing experience SMT high reliability electronics in a ISO9001/AS9100 environment.
  • Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing and 5S is a plus.
  • Excellent communications skills, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
  • Microsoft Office proficiency
