Job Description:

Textile Development & Marketing department is recruiting a pool of applicants for an adjunct teaching position in Textile Science. Candidates need expertise in textile development with an understanding of fibers, yarns, weaving, knitting, dyeing, and finishing. Ideal candidates have textile experience in one or more of the areas described. The class uses J.J. Pizzuto's Fabric Science textbook and swatch book, Fabric Science Fabric Science Swatch Kit

Adjunct instructors deliver relevant course material, assess student performance, provide guidance and assistance to students both in and out of the classroom, and submit grades in a timely manner. Course descriptions are available in the online catalog, TDM TS 111; Fundamentals of Textiles, 3 credits; 2 lecture, and 2 lab hours. General study of textile materials with an emphasis on the factors that produce successful fabrics in the marketplace, including fibers, yarns, construction, color, and finish. Characteristics of a wide range of market fabrics are examined.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications:

* Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in textile technology, textile engineering, textile chemistry, fiber science, or related subjects.

* A minimum of seven (7) years of professional experience in the textile or related industries.

Preferred Qualifications:

* Master's degree and college-level teaching experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

A demonstrated knowledge of fundamentals of textiles; textile product development including woven and knit products development; textile coloration and finishing; textile quality assurance and an aptitude for interdisciplinary projects with the ability to integrate multi-media into the classroom.

MENTAL, PHYSICAL AND WORKING REQUIREMENTS:

This position will be required to constantly read and comprehend, occasionally perform calculations, constantly verbally communicate, frequently analyze and constantly write. The working conditions for this position will be any combination of the classroom, lab, and/or office space. Certain roles may be required to handle machinery and chemicals. The physical requirement for this position will require occasional sitting, constant standing, occasional bending, frequent walking, and occasionally lifting 10 lbs. or less.

Additional Information:

This is a part-time position, adjunct teaching position beginning in Fall 2023. Review of applications will commence immediately and continue until the position is filled. The department will keep this posting open to create a pool of candidates for potential future adjunct assignments. The department will contact applicants who qualifications fit our programmatic needs.

The UCE-FIT Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) dictates the compensation, benefits, and conditions of employment. The hourly rate and appointment rank will be based on education level and cumulative experience.

Starting Rate: $77.43 per hour with step increments per Salary Schedule 97, after one year of service and annually thereafter.
