Nevada Donor Network is Hiring a Director of Organ Services Near Las Vegas, NV

esponsible for the recruitment, training, and general supervision of the organ recovery staff. Responsible for compliance with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations, including but not limited to clinical regulations promulgated by the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS), the United Network for Organ Sharing (UNOS) and the Association of Organ Procurement Organizations (AOPO). Must build and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external clients. This position has considerable “on-call” requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Establish and maintain a positive working relationship with: All internal clients, including Department Directors and staff in other departments; Hospital staff at all local hospitals; Key physicians and surgeons in the NDN DSA; Transplant center and laboratory personnel; other key personnel throughout the community.
  • Work collaboratively with the Quality & Regulatory Affairs Department to collect and analyze data necessary to monitor and improve NDN systems and processes.
  • Work collaboratively with the Hospital Development staff to ensure the development and implementation of a comprehensive educational process for the NDN DSA.
  • Work collaboratively with the Tissue & Ocular Departments to maximize donation and service to the community.
  • Work collaboratively with the Administration Department to ensure good communication throughout the organization.
  • Identify and update key skill requirements within the Organ Department.
  • Develop and modify job descriptions in accordance with NDN policy.
  • Work with NDN HR staff to recruit and fill vacancies as needed.
  • Interview potential employees and select final candidates.
  • Provide comprehensive orientation and training for selected candidates in accordance with accepted practices.
  • Conduct yearly performance evaluations for direct reports and make recommendations for salary changes and advancement in accordance with NDN policy.
  • Review and update Policies and Procedures to ensure compliance with rules and regulations from governing agencies, including UNOS, AOPO, Food and Drug Administration (FDA), CDC and Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).
  • Work with all department directors to ensure consistency in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow Standard Operating Procedures as set by the company, regulatory agencies
  • Ensure departmental staff is adhering to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Assume primary responsibility for AOPO and UNOS inspections and accreditation.
  • Serve as primary contact for UNOS and AOPO data acquisition and reporting.
  • Ensure that database/reporting systems are up to date.
  • Assist in the development and evaluation of new technology to advance the science of organ recovery and transplantation.
  • Work with the Director of Family and Hospital Services to ensure the best possible customer service.
  • Conduct or assign in-service or other educational programs as needed.
  • Ensure that all reports are accurate and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Ensure the dissemination of best practices throughout the NDN DSA.
  • Ensure that all clinical policies and procedures are in compliance with UNOS and AOPO standards.
  • Work with Medical Directors to ensure that organ recovery and transplantation is maximized.
  • Work in collaboration with other NDN staff to enhance tissue and eye donation.
  • Provide training, assistance and guidance for organ donor management, surgical recovery, organ preservation and organ placement.
  • Ensure all records are accurate and completed within a reasonable time frame.
  • Complete required reports in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the training of hospital nurses and other hospital staff.
  • Ensure staff competency in all areas of organ recovery including, donor identification, obtaining consent, donor management, organ placement, organ recovery, and organ preservation.
  • Work with NDN Human Resources to identify and implement strategies to maximize staff retention.
  • Attend and actively participate in all relevant NDN meetings and assist with the accomplishment of our primary mission.
  • Represent the Network at various meetings as directed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) in healthcare field; Master’s Degree preferred; years of experience may be considered in lieu of education

Experience: Three to seven years healthcare related experience; minimum of 3 years experience in organ procurement preferred

Computer Skills: Knowledge of MS office programs; electronic medical records

Certificates & Licenses: Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) required.

Other Requirements: A minimum of three years experience in organ procurement preferred.
