Description

The Employee Health and Safety Coordinator will be responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy work environment through proactive measures and effective communication. This role involves developing, implementing, and overseeing safety programs, conducting training sessions, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Employee Health and Safety Coordinator will collaborate with various departments to identify risks, investigate incidents, and recommend corrective actions to enhance workplace safety.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Essential Functions Statement(s)

  • Ensures all safety documents are scanned or filed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Facilitates coordination of annual TB and vaccination clinics ensuring compliance of required immunizations for onsite hospital partners.
  • Develop and implement safety policies and procedures in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend preventive measures.
  • Organize and conduct safety training sessions for employees, focusing on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and emergency procedures.
  • Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses, analyze root causes, and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Manage and file annual OSHA reporting of all work-related incidents throughout the year.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, trainings, and incidents.
  • Collaborate with PC D and Facilities teams to ensure workplace safety initiatives are effectively communicated and implemented.
  • Monitor and evaluate workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and consultants as needed to address safety concerns and regulatory requirements.
  • Lead the Safety Committee and meetings, providing expertise and guidance on safety-related matters.
  • Stay informed about new developments in safety regulations, techniques, and technologies.
  • Assist PC D in compiling documentation and processing of Workman’s Compensation claims.
  • Travel to all Nevada Donor Network offices as needed to effectively perform all essential functions listed.
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS & ABILITIES

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Public Health, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience: Proven experience as a Safety Coordinator or similar role, preferably in a health-related field. Phlebotomist and/or Clinical experience a plus

Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Power Point, Excel, Publisher, and Outlook. Prior experience with an LMS is desirable.

Certifications: Certification in CPR, First Aid, or other relevant safety certifications is preferred.

Other Requirements:

  • In-depth knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and assess safety incidents.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
