As a Functional Safety Engineer on our Systems Safety team, you will be a key contributor in ensuring our hardware and software meet ISO26262 requirements.
Functional Safety support will include customer projects and SEooC development for our ECU product portfolio, and our embedded model-based development software.
Location: Ann Arbor, MI Global Headquarters
Schedule: M - F, 4-5 days per week on-site. Flexibility as needed.Key Areas of ResponsibilityFunctional Safety Compliance:
- Support efforts to achieve and maintain compliance with functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262)
- Provide expertise on safety-related systems and contribute to safety analyses
- Work closely with stakeholders to gather and document functional safety requirements
- Ensure clear traceability of requirements throughout the development lifecycle
- Develop and execute test plans to validate system functionality and safety
- Collaborate with testing teams to ensure comprehensive test coverage
- Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system specifications, manuals, and safety documentation
- Generate reports on system performance, safety metrics, and compliance status
- Bachelor of Science – Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or similar
- At least 5 years of experience with fail-safe and fail operational concepts and strategies for safety related systems
- Proficiency in ISO26262 at the system, hardware, or software level.
- Understanding of electric vehicle systems
- Experience with Automotive networks such as CAN/LIN
- Experience with the creation of safety documents including Functional Safety Concept, Technical Safety Concept, Safety Case, FMEA, and FTA
- Proficient in requirement management, traceability, and system modeling
