IIP Rehabilitation Counselors provide instruction to individuals through the implementation of the scientific principles of behavior analysis (ABA therapy) throughout the day and in all environments. This includes knowledge and implementation of individuals’ clinical, educational, vocational, and daily living skills objectives. Thorough competence of the theoretical components and practical applications of behavior analysis is critical to the successful performance of our rehabilitation counselors and to promoting independence. To that end, rehabilitation counselors gain competence in the following: discrete trial teaching, task analysis training, incidental teaching procedures; data collection and analysis, and methods of increasing, decreasing, and shaping various behavior repertoires.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • IIP Rehabilitation Counselors work as part of an interdisciplinary team of professionals who develop curricula and provide instruction to maximize individuals’ skills and independence.
  • Thorough knowledge and competent implementation of all individuals’ programs and behavior management guidelines are implemented in school, vocational, and community settings in a 1:1/ small group format.
  • IIP Rehabilitation Counselors implement behavior analytic procedures across settings (e.g. classroom, community, etc.) and all domain areas including:
    • General Curriculum (ELA, Math, Science and History)
    • Other curriculum areas:
      • Communication
      • Activities of Daily Living (ADL’s; e.g., personal hygiene)
      • Social skills
      • Vocational skills
      • Leisure and recreation skills
      • Adaptive physical education and swimming (assist in chest deep water and wear life jacket if needed)
      • Community
      • Self-preservation
  • IIP Rehabilitation Counselors will be assigned role responsibilities for a cohort consisting of:
    • Case Manager: A case manager is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of education, clinical and other therapeutic programs for one to three student(s) in their assigned cohort. Case manager responsibilities include, but are not limited to; maintaining program materials, monthly preparation and participation in meetings to review individual progress with the internal NECC team, preparation and participation in parent clinic meetings and daily contact with families via home logs for their assigned case(s).
    • Case Assistant: IIP Rehabilitation Counselors assigned this role assist with case responsibilities. Tasks include summarizing behavior data, coordinating with the case manager to ensure documentation of program changes, medication changes, significant events, etc. and assisting with administrative duties (creating materials, token boards, organizing materials, making copies, etc.). Case Assistants also attend all relevant internal meetings related to their assigned cases.
    • IIP Rehabilitation Counselors may also have other specialty roles as defined by cohort assignment and needs.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience working with students with special needs
  • H1B visa sponsorship eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Psychology, or closely related field
  • Willingness to help students who engage in challenging behaviors
  • Must be able to communicate and provide verbal instruction clearly with our students
  • A valid International Driver’s License is required.
  • A Massachusetts license within 2 months of employment and a personal vehicle within 6 months of employment. 
  • CPR training completion through NECC within 6 months of employment
  • Successful completion of NECC training - Physical and Verbal De-escalation training (CALM) and Medication Administration training (ability to become MAP Certified) and Van Driving training
