Hospice Chaplain
Hours: 32 to 40 hours benefitted position
Qualifications: Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology (Bachelors of Divinity, Masters of Divinity or equivalent theological degree). Experience working with death and dying individuals/ families and caregivers. One (1) year of experience in HealthCare Setting.
Ordained, or endorsed minister, priest, rabbi or a member of a religious order or lay person with training in pastoral care. Professional experience in a religious agency or institution may be considered in lieu of formalized education.
A minimum of one (1) Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit preferred.
Ability to provide an inter-faith approach to spiritual care demonstrating a high level of cultural and theological competence in working with diverse faith and belief systems.
Will need to travel between service areas and sites.
Service Area: Tewksbury, Billerica, Acton, Nashoba Valley
Service sites: Long Term Care Facilities, Private Residence
Reports To: Director of Chaplaincy Services
Essential Job Functions: Hospice Chaplain is responsible for assessing and providing spiritual and religious care services to patients, families, and caregivers of New England Hospice, either directly or through the coordination of care with social services, nursing, and community spiritual resources. The Chaplain develops, conducts and participates in memorial, funeral, and bereavement services . Serve as a liaison and support to promote healthy communities, facilitating the inclusion of community chaplains, faith leaders from churches, synagogues, and mosques, in the provision of Spiritual Care for their members.
Provide spiritual care assessment along with spiritual and emotional care interventions and support.
Comply with regulatory requirements associated with the position, including computerized documentation.
As a member of the interdisciplinary group, the chaplain works under the supervision of the Director of Social Services, with input from the Program Manager (Clinical RN Manager).
Demonstrates ability to be self-directed, flexible, and cooperative in working together as a team member in an interfaith setting.
Commitment to the hospice philosophy of care.
Communicate effectively (written and verbal) with administration, colleagues, patients and family members.
