LOCAL Candidates ONLY - CONTRACT role
Senior S&U Tax Accountant provides our customers, external vendors, and government agencies with superior service and maintaining compliance with State and local tax laws. Managing sales and use tax audits in a multi-state environment with an emphasis on minimizing tax burden. Working in collaboration with cross-functional teams. In addition, assist business operations with implementation of processes to mitigate tax liabilities. Constantly challenging the status quo by analyzing and continually improving current processes to gain efficiencies, to ensure quality outcomes and accurate results.
Duties and responsibilities:
• Perform multi-state audit defense for Sales & Use, Severance, Business Licenses and Fuel Taxes
• Complete multi-state state and local tax research projects
• Lead or assist with multi-state and local tax due diligence analysis for M&A
• Provide support with Tax Technology for SAP and Vertex to make certain proper taxation
• Draft pertinent technical letters to appropriate state officials on tax interpretation
• Apply for, secure, and implement special exemptions
• Engage in continuous improvements to enable efficient tax work processes
• Author, plan, and execute training to internal customers
• Prepare reconciliation of related Sales and Use tax accounts
• Stage and prepare tax data files for sales & use tax and any other statutory filings
• Respond to internal questions on state and local tax issues
• Timely resolve tax issues for external customers
• Perform necessary work to guarantee we accomplish our goals of increased compliance
• Other tasks as needed to safeguard compliance with S&U Tax Laws
Qualifications include:
• 5 years of experience in multi-state sales & use tax audit defense
• Bachelor of Science in Accounting
• Master's Degree and/or CPA is a plus
