The State of New Hampshire, Department of Health and Human Services, Division for Children, Youth, and Families has a full time vacancy for Cook II.
Summary:
Performs dietary duties including preparation and cooking of food in quantities according to menu and number of persons to be served, ensuring food is appetizing and nutritious and maintains cleanliness of dietary area. Upholds the vision and mission of the agency through utilizing the Practice Model theories, beliefs, and principles in daily practice.
Responsibilities:
Cooks and prepares food items such as poultry, meat, fish, and vegetables according to a pre-established menu.
Cuts and slices meats, vegetables, fruit, etc. as required.
Creates and distributes special diet orders. Distributes meals to various units and retrieves empty food carriers.
Cleans kitchen equipment, refrigerated storage boxes and kitchen, as well as emptying kitchen trash daily.
Checks units every morning to insure there are adequate food supplies on hand such as bread and milk.
Performs daily inventory checks on utensils and kitchen equipment to ensure safety and security of the residents and staff.
Assists other food service employees in solving routine work problems.
Must perform accountabilities in accordance with established safety policies and procedures.
Communicates with supervisors regarding issues related to workplace safety.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential. Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience: One year's experience as a cook in preparing foods and cooking on a large scale. Each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid New Hampshire driver's license.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have a neat and clean appearance and practice personal hygiene.
