GENERAL SUMMARY
The Statewide Mental Health Court Coordinator participates in the management of mental health
court programs and is responsible for assisting these programs in their day-to-day operations. The
person in this position must have a knowledge base about the courts, probation services, and
treatment practices which will be conducive to facilitation of cross training and collaboration among
the various mental health and alternative treatment court program team members. Employees in this
position will be required to travel during the regular course of business and are subject to transfer or
reassignment at the discretion of the Administrative Council. Regular, full-time position working in the
New Hampshire Court System, subject to the sufficient and continued federal funding.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
The intent of this job description is to provide a representative summary of the major duties and responsibilities
performed by incumbents of this job. Employees may be requested to perform tasks other than those specifically
presented in this description.
Plans, implements, and monitors the activities of the mental health court programs to ensure they
are implementing key components and working toward compliance with statewide guidelines and
standards as published and updated by the National Association of Drug Court Professionals
Association while serving the appropriate target population(s).
INTERNAL / EXTERNAL
Assists the local mental health court program teams in their operations; assists counties seeking
mental health court implementation.
In collaboration with the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC), writes and manages grants,
including the accounting and auditing of grant funds and completing comprehensive federal grant
reporting requirements.

Program Coordinator, defense counsel, prosecution, judicial officers, court staff, jail
superintendents and law enforcement.
Attends and participates in conferences, meetings and committees as the Mental Health Court
Coordinator representative. Also attends pre-court staff meetings and court hearings as deemed
appropriate for the purposes of assessing effectiveness and assisting the local court in improving
practices.
Consults with mental health court judges on a wide range of organizational and managerial issues
including but not limited to related program efficiency, as well as internal and external quality
assurance.
assists with the development of a statewide database for evaluation purposes.
Identify and recommend policy and procedural changes and establish administrative procedures
for implementing programs on a statewide basis. Recommend or initiate corrective action.
Assists the local mental health courts with creating policies and procedures and the participant
handbook.
Performs other essential functions, as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Social
Sciences, Social Work or Mental Health.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Strong oral and written communication skills with demonstrated proficiency in correct
spelling, grammar, and overall business writing.
OTHER JOB REQUIREMENTS
Successful completion of a background check, including a criminal records check and motor
vehicle records check.
Experience with supervisory methods and practices.

procedures, and applicable grant and federal rules and regulations.
Knowledge of financial analysis, planning, research, program / policy development, and budget
administration.

target population.

Organizing, planning, implementing, and overseeing multiple programs or areas of responsibility
where little precedent exists in receiving complex problems.
Ability to :
governmental leaders and the general public.
Ability to work under pressure in a changing work environment with multiple tasks and program
demands.
Maintain confidentiality.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must successfully pass a criminal record check.
