New Hanover County is Hiring a Youth Intervention Specialist Near Wilmington, NC

New Hanover County is seeking an experienced Human Service professionals to join the Sheriff's Office as a Youth Intervention Specialist. The Youth Intervention Specialist provides professional case management services for clients by arranging assessments, connecting clients and families to community resources, developing case coordination plans, scheduling therapy services, assisting in crisis intervention, and preparing program reports.
Duties include providing information about gang awareness by making presentations to schools, courts, and civic groups; providing professional case management services for at-risk youth clients and their families to increase self-sufficiency and overall quality of life; interviewing clients to assess the clients' need for services; preparing and implementing case coordination plans by conducting assessments for clients referred, assessing needs, and developing plans to assist clients and families in reaching identified goals; identifying resources and links clients and their families with community resources and services such as stable housing, medical care, health insurance, employment resources, educational development, and after school programming to meet the basic needs of clients and enhance their level of functioning; making referrals and arranges for transportation of clients; implementing behavior modification techniques to empower youth to be independent, productive members of society and avoid legal and social problems; monitoring and recording progress of case coordination plans through scheduling appointments, conducting school and home visits, and evaluating and updating client goals; scheduling and facilitates group sessions focusing on behavioral awareness and goal development; assisting with individual and family crisis intervention.; preparing reports on the progress of clients and families.; participating in treatment team meetings and serves as a liaison with schools, local human service agencies, courts, law enforcement and doctors.; documenting case records with all information related to the progress of clients and their families.; connecting with organizations in the community to assist clients.; performing work with regular and predictable attendance consistently meeting the scheduling needs as required by the county.; performing work during emergency/disaster situations; performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Hours:
-Hours are 10am-6pm Monday - Friday with occasional work events on nights and weekends.
-Must be available to report for emergency work assignment during emergency situations.Employment Type:
Full-Time, Non-exempt
Salary Information:
The
salary for this position ranges from $51,111 - $86,889.Salary will be determined based on qualifications, internal equity, budget, and market considerations.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License
  • Bachelor's Degree in a Human Services field
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a similar structured setting as the job duties listed above
    • or an equivalent combination of education and experience (Associate's degree 4 years of experience OR High school Diploma 6 years of experience)
