New Harmony Behavioral Health is a startup dually licensed mental health and substance abuse based in Newark NJ providing services to the community as an outpatient substance abuse treatment center and also co-occurring group home mental health care. We are seeking dedicated and experienced LCADC/CADC/ Counselor interns that are passionate about client/patient care, working in a collaborative employee centric environment and supporting the success/development/growth of the organization

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 2 years experience working with patients with disabilities to include substance abuse/mental/behavioral health
• BA/BS Degree in behavioral health, social work, psychology, or related field preferred.

Note: Interns - prior internship experience preferredSKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS

• Ability to maintain appropriate relationships with disabilities (substance abuse, mental and behavioral) and at-risk patients utilizing normalization principles
• Assess treatment needs; developing, monitoring, and evaluating treatment plans and progress; facilitating interdisciplinary approaches
• Experience in group therapy and addiction counseling
• Knowledge of State and Federal statues regarding patient confidentiality laws (HIPAA)
• Working knowledge of computer software programs including Microsoft Office products
• Demonstrate responsible leadership, mentoring and role-modeling

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Conduct and/or facilitates intakes, individual, group and family therapy sessions, Mental Health evaluation, Mental Health individual and group sessions
• Attending regularly scheduled clinical supervision/multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Performs intakes, client assessment and onboards new clients by reviewing records and applications, and conducting orientations
• Maintains program standards of operation and development
• Ensures members’ health, safety and welfare, including appropriate medication administration
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation including intake summaries, group and individual progress notes, discharge summaries, treatment plans and updates
• Communicate relevant, accurate and adequate information regarding clients’ needs/concerns/issues to supervisor and referral sources
• Ensure clients receive the proper care and service from the residential aide they are assigned to
• Works with the person served and the team to develop integrated mental health and substance use treatment goals and interventions
• Ensures compliance with various program licensing requirements
• Coordinate treatment plans for patients; and assist, supervise, and coach members of the residential aide staff as needed
• Cooperates with Agency, legal authorities and Department of Human Services or any part or successor thereof in any inspection or investigation.
• Ensures compliance with all required state and federally mandated background and exclusion checks including but not limited to criminal history background investigation (fingerprinting), Central Registry, Child Abuse Record Information (CARI), drug testing, and motor vehicle checks.
