New Harmony Behavioral Health is Hiring a Grant Writer Near Newark, NJ

Grants Specialist

New Harmony Behavioral Health is a dually licensed program providing compassionate, comprehensive mental health and substance use disorder services to adults across a wide spectrum of needs via clinical expertise in a group home and outpatient care. We are seeking a skilled and proficient Grant Writer to support our development functions. The perspective candidate will be responsible for writing proposals for both unrestricted operating revenue and restricted projects and for submitting timely and accurate reports for all existing grant funded projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct the full range of activities required to explore and research diverse types of grant opportunities in order to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation, local, state, federal and corporate sources.
  • Discuss available sources of funding with managers and leadership and take the lead on grant proposal development and submission.
  • Maintain annual grants calendar to include new application and reporting deadlines
  • Work with finance to gather information necessary to act as a liaison between grant stakeholders, including funding sources, program staff, finance staff, and leadership.
  • Coordinate with finance and program staff; monitor and compare grant budget with actual reports, ensuring costs charged to the grant are reasonable, necessary, allowable, and properly reported.
  • Work with key team members to maintain grant compliance and reporting, including outcome measurements and grant budgets.
  • Remain up to date on funding source expectations, compliance requirements, and federal, state, and local grant guidance and regulations.
  • Prepare and organize materials for proposals; submit and monitor grant applications in alignment with the agency key business outcomes.
  • Draft proposals/LOIs, grant application narratives, and budgets according to application requirements.
  • Ensure grants are submitted on time and within application parameters. When applicable, prepare and submit grant revisions.
  • Write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals.
  • Maintain a master calendar of grant opportunities, including deadline dates and required materials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Strong written communication skills: ability to write clear, structured, articulate, and persuasive proposals
  • Federal, state, and private foundations with demonstrated familiarity and experience working with such entitiesAdvanced computer keyboarding, programs, and software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and funding databases, etc.) with demonstrated proficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, Creative Writing, Journalism, Communications, or Marketing; Master’s degree preferred.
  • Certified Grant Writer (CGW) preferred.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in grant writing with successful outcomes
  • A commitment to the cause of mental health

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour

Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
