New Horizons in Autism, Inc. (NHIA) is looking for an energetic, compassionate Residential Manager dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of the individuals we support!

Position Overview:

Under the direction of the Residential Coordinator, the Residential Manager shall assume the responsibility for the management of the community residence, including educational and administrative duties required by the policies and procedures established by NHIA. You will be required to provide direct care services to individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities.

You will assist in driving, personal care, Individual Service Plan (ISP) goals and objectives, implementing behavior plans, monitoring the individuals, assisting with meal preparation, community integration, job development, and off-site job training (if applicable), and overall upkeep of the residential home, and individuals.

This position reports directly to the Residential Coordinator. This is a full-time, exempt position. You will be required to oversee the operation of the residential home by working directly with Leads, Direct Support Professionals, Residential Coordinators, and members of the Clinical and Executive Teams. This will require a flexible schedule, this is not a typical 9 to 5 schedule.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma, B.A. or B.S. in special education, psychology or social work or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience : Two-year experience working with individuals with autism or other intellectual disabilities. Two years of Manager/Supervisory experience required. Familiarity with Residential Programs Preferred. Experience with Therap Preferred.
  • Communication Skills : Must be able to respectfully communicate well both verbally and in writing with stakeholders, all levels of staff, family members, and community partners.
  • Judgment/Initiative : Must be able to use good judgment in dealing with stakeholders’ issues/emergencies, as well as staff-related concerns. Must work well to maintain a good working relationship with supervisors.

Requirements:

  • A current, valid New Jersey Driver’s License is required. A current valid driver’s license from another state may be acceptable for no longer than three months. NHIA uses a driving matrix to determine eligibility for operating the company vehicle. Based on the Supports Program Policies and Procedures Manual, the driver's abstract cannot exceed 6 points.
  • Successful completion of all DDD’s required mandatory training by specified deadlines.
  • New Hire Physical and a negative Mantoux Test
  • Must be 20 years of age or older
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from work
  • Complete State & Federal Criminal Background Checks, New Hire & Random Drug Screens, CARI, and Central Registry

  • Must demonstrate the ability to relate well to co-workers and promote morale and a positive work environment, among others.
  • Must be able to work under adverse conditions.
  • Must exercise common sense and good judgment.
  • Must be able to be flexible with work hours, work location, and work tasks.

Job-Related Behaviors:

  • The employee must arrive at work on time. Punctuality is key to overall job performance.
  • The employee notifies their supervisor or manager when they will be late for a shift or need to leave early from their shift.
  • The employee must have consistent attendance and adhere to the attendance policy.
  • The employee must clock in and out using the ADP Timeclocks or ADP Mobile App.
  • The employee must remain responsible and flexible, willing to work a varied schedule, including staying late or coming in early due to delayed openings/early closings of the NHIA’s Special Needs Work Program (or school.)
  • The employee must attend and participate in monthly staff meetings, in-service days, and Inter-Disciplinary Team Meetings or any other meeting deemed appropriate by the Program Supervisor or Director. (I.e., pen and notebook to take notes.)
  • The employee must work well with other staff and management in the program.
  • The employee must adhere to the agency’s dress code policy (staff shirt, badge, etc.)
  • Only employees of NHIA shall contact supervisors, management, or co-workers for any purposes, except in instances directly involving the staff member that render the staff member unable to communicate (i.e., death, accident, medical emergency, incarceration.)

Examples of Duties Performed

  • Assume primary responsibility for the orientation, supervision, and evaluation of all staff within the community residence.
  • Residential Managers must establish and maintain staff schedules to ensure the documented supervision levels are maintained at all times.
  • Participate in appropriate meetings toward the development of ISP for the individuals in the program. Perform assessments and make recommendations for annual individual objectives.
  • Residential Managers will serve as the coordinator of each person’s team, to include the development of the ISP; trains staff in the documentation and implementation of daily tracking records.
  • Must comply with all applicable local, state, and federal regulatory standards. This will mean DDD’s licensure requirements and Medicaid Waiver standards.
  • Additional duties may be assigned at any time without notice.
