Central Region – Garden State Correctional Facility (GSCF); Mid-State Correctional Facility (MSCF); New Jersey State Prison (NJSP)

Southern Region – Bayside State Prison (BSP): South Woods State Prison (SWSP)

JOB DESCRIPTION: Under direction of the Supervising Program Support Specialist-CIA Officer with the Division of Programs and Reintegration Services, provides programming related translation/interpretation services for incarcerated persons with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) in a State correctional institutions; translates/interprets from spoken foreign language into English, or reverse, in a sight, consecutive or simultaneous mode for understanding and improved communication; does other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s Degree.

NOTE: Translators must be proficient in English, and in Spanish or Mandarin.

EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of experience in providing translation or interpreting services, which shall have included oral translations and interpretations, translation of written documents or audio recordings, proficiency in using translation software and technology, and a high level of cultural awareness.

LICENSE: Special consideration for those appointees possessing translation/interpreting certification or licensure.
