New Leaf Energy, Inc. is Hiring a Senior Civil Project Engineer Near Boston, MA

New Leaf Energy is seeking a Senior Civil Project Engineer to join our growing team! In this role, you will work with a team of engineers, project developers, and engineering consultants to review, design and permit prospective solar PV, wind, and energy storage projects. Our successful candidate will be relied on to balance due diligence efforts with project risks for the continued development of projects for New Leaf Energy. This position reports to the Vice President of Civil Engineering.

This position may be filled out of our Lowell, MA, Boston, MA, Troy, NY, or Chicago, IL offices. We value in-person collaboration and offer a hybrid work environment. Hybrid employees work in the office at least two out of every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, and are free to work from the office or from home on other days.

Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: 

  • Site review, zoning/bylaws review and outlining entitlement path;
  • Working with the state agencies, towns, and other stakeholders, as well as presenting to planning/zoning boards, state, and federal agencies;
  • Working with staff engineers as well as managing the survey, environmental and engineering sub-consultants;
  • Making technical presentations to the business investment committee;
  • Review design drawings prepared by in-house or external designers;
  • Leading continued development of SOPs, standard details, plan notes, and specifications.

Desired Qualifications 

While no one individual will possess them all, the successful candidate will bring many of the following experiences, skills, and attributes.   • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with Civil P.E;
  • 8–15 years’ experience in site development, entitlement, and environmental permitting (municipal, state, federal);
  • Experience in cost estimation, reviewing engineering services contracts, managing subconsultants;
  • Experience with Planning Boards, Zoning Boards, Conservation Commissions, Historic Commissions, Endangered Species programs and Army Corps of Engineers;
  • AutoCAD Civil 3D and HYDROCAD (or equivalent design tools) proficiency;
  • Ability to communicate design concepts and lead meetings between clients, engineers, regulatory officials, and consultants;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while being highly motivated, detailed, and organized;
  • Ability to lead task-based technical teams and coaching or early career engineers;
  • Passionate about renewable sources of energy.

Compensation

New Leaf Energy compensates all employees in three ways: market-competitive base salary, plus above-market variable compensation, plus an equity-like program such that all employees experience the benefits of ownership. We use a data-driven and transparent methodology to calibrate compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable, guided by the New Leaf Energy compensation manual, which is available to all employees.

Under our compensation framework, the likely base salary range for this position in the Boston location is $134,290 - $155,620. The on-target annual cash bonus associated with this position is an additional 20% percent of base salary. Your actual salary may be above, in, or below this range, depending on your location and experience.
