Base Pay : $21.00 - $23.40 / hour JOB SUMMARY The Dental Assistant Trainee position will receive training to be able to deliver a variety of professional assistant dental care services for dentists, dental hygienists and the day to day operations of the SCHC dental clinic.
Once competent after training, he or she will assist dentists and hygienists with preparing treatment rooms, patient preparation, instrument set-up, material preparation, passing instruments and materials, and performing procedures in compliance with the dental practice act.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Trainee will receive training on all) Prepares treatment room for patient by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
Prepares patient for dental treatment by welcoming, comforting, seating, and draping patient. Providing chairside support to dental providers.
Take vitals as directed, to include blood pressure, pulse, temperature, height, weight, and calculate BMI Develop and mount dental radiographs.
Apply topical anesthetic as directed by the dental provider. Aid and monitor instrument sterilization, tray set up, operatory disinfecting and barrier protection.
Restocking of dental materials and supplies. Patient health history review and prophylactic coverage status. Access EMR for prescription list, lab results, and other medical documentation as needed to provide care.
Chart documentation as instructed by provider. Pouring and care of laboratory impressions. Completion of lab prescription as instructed by the dental provider.
Maintenance of dental hand pieces, equipment and delivery carts. Daily set up and shut down of dental delivery systems. Receiving dental supply shipments.
Take impressions for diagnostic and opposing models. Hold anterior matrices. Apply topical fluoride as directed by the dental provider.
Inventory control. Other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES CPR Certificate or able to obtain, must be an American Heart Association or American Red Cross approved course Ability to read, write, understand and spell English and medical terminology correctly.
Basic Computer proficiency in Windows environment Typing 35 WPM. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE High school diploma or equivalent.
