New Orleans Film Society is Hiring a 2024 NOFF Box Office Manager Near Orleans, LA

(Full-Time, Contract)

The New Orleans Film Society is a 501(c) (3) arts non-profit organization whose mission is to discover, cultivate, and amplify diverse voices of filmmakers who tell the stories of our time. We produce the Oscar®-qualifying New Orleans Film Festival annually and invest year-round in building a vibrant film culture in the South to share transformative cinematic experiences with audiences, and connect dynamic filmmakers to career-advancing resources.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The New Orleans Film Society is seeking an individual who can effectively run a venue box office during the New Orleans Film Festival. Responsible for ticket, pass, and membership sales, as well as securing donations and daily reconciliation.
The Box Office Manager reports directly to the Ticketing and Credentials Manager and oversees select volunteers.
Timeline for the position:
Training dates: part-time October 1-15, 2024 (approx. 10 hours)
Contract dates: full-time October 16-22, 2024 (approximately 40-50 hours)
Required full availability during scheduled events, training sessions; availability for relevant work day meetings and site visits.
Principal Duties:
  • Initial setup of the venue Box Office
  • Participate in ticketing software training
  • Responsible for ticket, pass, and membership sales, as well as securing donations
  • Setup and breakdown of daily box office operations
  • Allocate and oversee volunteer positions and train volunteers accordingly, including checking them in and out of their shifts and tracking/applying the proper benefits
  • Responsible for box office equipment usage, storage and post-festival breakdown
  • Communicate with venue managers, theater and facility employees and other festival personnel to execute smooth box office operations
  • Problem solve as issues arise
  • Maintain regular/daily communication with Ticketing and Credentials Manager
  • Under direction of the Ticketing and Credentials Manager and in collaboration with the Accessibility Coordinator, ensuring venue accessibility and ADA compliance at all box office locations
  • Capture daily attendance numbers and any other necessary Festival metrics
  • Maintain knowledge of NOFS membership program and the NOFF program guide so as to adequately answer any questions attendees/filmmakers might have
  • Understand safety and emergency procedures, including locations of all emergency exits
  • Coordinates rush line and ticket scanning process with venue manager, sells at entry of rush
  • Works closely with projectionist and venue manager to create a “perfect trio” that ensures all NOFF screenings run smoothly and Festival attendees have the best experience
  • Be cordial, pleasant and show an excited attitude towards all festival attendees and guests
  • Handles all interactions with guests in a safe manner and keeps all payments secure
  • Updates patron information in the Eventive ticketing system
  • Up-sell and cross-sell tickets, passes and memberships
Skills, Experience Qualifications - Required:
  • Alignment to organization’s stated mission and values
  • Proven history of customer service
  • Great organization, planning and productivity skills
  • High level of comfort working large live events, handling pressure and understanding deadline-driven environments
  • Previous experience working at film festivals, film events, cinemas, or other live production events
  • Ability to work nights and weekends during scheduled festivals and events
  • Ability to stand and move for prolonged hours during events and lift, carry and load items of up to 20lbs

  • Self-starter with strong initiative, drive, sense of urgency & ability to work with a high degree of autonomy
Benefits & Compensation:
This position is temporary non-exempt, and the hourly compensation is $16 per hour, less applicable taxes and deductions. Hours vary by venue.

Location
This position works mostly in-person and on-site, with some training both remotely and in the office. The candidate should live in the New Orleans metro area or be willing to travel to start the position. The New Orleans Film Society is not able to offer any travel stipends at this time.
