New River Veterinary Specialists opened its doors in June 2022. Our 15,000 square foot state-of-the-art 24/7 emergency and specialty hospital includes surgery, physical rehabilitation, internal medicine, neurology, emergency and critical care .

The Surgery Service offers three large OR suites, Force Triad, arthroscopy/laparoscopy, C-arm for minimally invasive fracture management, and PRP. You will see, and be involved in, a variety of surgeries from soft tissue (abdominal, thoracic, oncologic, laparoscopy/thoracoscopy, wound management, etc.), orthopedic (arthroscopy, TPLO, patella stabilization, fracture management, trauma, etc.), and neurosurgery. Full anesthesia monitoring equipment for all patients and anesthesia ventilators as indicated. Patients are provided the best care possible by recovering in our full staffed ICU post operatively.
Responsibilities include patient receiving/discharges, performing diagnostic imaging (radiographs, CT, MRI), anesthesia and monitoring, preop patient prep, surgical assistance, post op recovery, instrument pack prep, record management (Instinct), and client communication/call backs. On-call for emergency surgery is required but shared by the entire technical staff. We understand how valuable your time is and appreciate all your dedication so we are proud to offer call in fees for on call responsibilities. The Surgery Team is supported by 24/7 ER/Critical Care. If you have experience, great! If you want to grow and learn but are intimidated by advanced care and diagnostics, don’t worry, we will teach and support you.
