Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) 
Manhattan, NY

New York Cancer & Blood Specialists (NYCBS), a prominent and respected Oncology/Hematology group, is seeking a Licensed Practical Nurse
to join a well-established and growing pure sub-specialty practice with academic affiliation. Clinics from Southampton to NYC, the practice manages a freestanding outpatient 7-day-per week Cancer Center with extensive chemotherapy administration, Radiation Oncology, Pharmacy, and Research department.
Responsibilities:
 
  • Follows all New York Cancer and Blood Specialists policies and procedures.
  • Update and maintain all electronic patient records and assist in transitioning hard copy records to digital format
  • Manage Physician inbox and prioritize tasks assigned via ONCO EMR
  • Perform office callbacks to patients, physicians, and other healthcare facilities
  • Assist in maintaining the medical inventory and placing orders for new materials as needed
  • Clean and prepare examination rooms before patient appointments
  • Record patient information such as vital signs, weight, and changes in medical history before each appointment
  • Escort patients to exam rooms, interview patients, measure vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, and document all information in the patient’s chart and open wallboards for the patient to self-complete any outstanding documents needed
  • Records patient interview, history, and chief complaint
  • Provides patient education concerning medications, management of diseases, home treatments, and special diets
  • Prepares patients for examinations, performs routine screening tests, and assists physicians with exams.
  • Performs basic lab tests such as phlebotomy, collection of other lab specimens, and EKGs
  • Prepares and administers Injections and documents medication under a physician’s order, follows the five (5) medication rights, and reduces the potential for medical error.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • Current NYS LPN license required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
  • Previous experience in a lead role or demonstrated potential to act in a lead capacity.
  • Previous outpatient experience preferred
  • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other health care professionals.
  • Proficiency in OncoEMR.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, bending, and reaching.
  • Frequent exposure to chemicals, blood-borne pathogens, and patient bodily fluids.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
  • Travel to any of the NYCBS locations
Hours: Monday-Friday
Salary up to $40 per hour commensurate with experience and education.
