New York State is Hiring a Medical specialist Near Suffolk, VA

Minimum Qualifications

  • Possession of a license to practice medicine in New York State AND certification by a Member Board of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) in your specialty
  • Current Medical Specialist 2
  • Eligible for 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable to Medical Specialist 2, by the Department of Civil Service.

Duties Description PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Provide medical oversight and advocacy for people receiving services from LIDDSOO who have primary medical providers in the community.

Occasionally will be required to travel to different group home locations. (State vehicle provided)

  • Discussion of care with hospital or rehabilitation facility providers when needed to ensure clinical information is shared and continuity of care is provided between the group home, the hospital, the rehabilitation setting and / or community providers.
  • Review of discharge summaries prior to accepting a person back into the group home residence.
  • Review medical information for new admissions to a residence when needed to ensure appropriate care can be provided.
  • Communication with team members regarding medical issues and participation in team meetings as needed either in person or virtually.

Communication with family members and advocates when needed to explain medical or treatment issues.

  • Provide short-term urgently needed prescription renewals when community medical provider may be unavailable.
  • Provide medical expertise to various committees including Human Rights, Informed Consent, Incident Review, Safe Patient Handling.

Assist in development or revision of medical policy and procedures when needed to ensure provision of quality care.

  • Provide after-hours and weekend on-call medical telephone consult on a rotating basis. Participate in rotation as Medical Director.
  • Utilize Electronic Health Record and provide oversight of clinical services provided through Article 16 Satellite clinic.
  • Provide oversight for new employee health screenings and fit testing medical clearance.
  • Clinical supervision of the Physician’s Assistant.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Region 6, State Operations.
