WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING (ESSENTIAL DUTIES) …

Newport Mental Health (NMH) is a progressive high-energy community mental health center that uses state of the art approaches to help individuals recover from mental illness and substance abuse disorders. We are seeking a detailed oriented Health Information Specialist.

Essential Duties:

• Conducts all prescribed steps in opening, transferring, or closing a medical record.
• Inputs data timely and accurately in the agency electronic health record database including Treatment Plan dates, admission, and closing dates.
• Opens, sorts, logs, and prioritizes record requests for response.
• Prepares accurate Releases of Information and records in response to requests and under subpoena and communicates consistently progress to supervisor.
• Completes accuracy audits for Health Information data elements as directed by Supervisor.
• Support Supervisor with client entries and maintenance of the BHDDH portal.
• Timely maintenance of client record to ensure information is available to clinical staff.
• Utilize outside data sources (Current Care, AE) to obtain client data and add to EHR: PCP visit dates, lab results.

WHAT WE EXPECT OF YOU…

• High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Previous experience in an office setting.
• Previous Health Information experience preferred.
• Excellent computer skills.
