The RoleThis position is for a senior electrical engineer within department E63 – Aircraft Carrier Electrical Engineering, working primarily CVN RCOH. The candidate may work within the following disciplines: generators, load center switchboards, transformers, circuit breakers, 60Hz/400Hz systems, illumination, lighting circuits, machinery control and monitoring systems, ABTs and MBTs, interior communications, alarm circuits, fiber optic cable plant, radar, radio, or combat systems.
Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.
Must HaveBachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience or
Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience or
Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.
Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.
Nice to HaveThe ideal candidate will have experience with some or all of the following skills: shipchecking, supporting construction trades, supporting test organizations, troubleshooting, developing engineering drawings, interfacing with purchasing and vendors, and general aircraft carrier operational knowledge
