Primary PurposeThe Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating employee relations activities and providing employee performance management support to staff. This position will be responsible for employee relations services, including handling employee grievances/complaints, managing Title IX complaints and other claims of harassment and discrimination, conducting investigations of alleged employee misconduct, overseeing fingerprinting and background screening for all applicants, substitutes, and employees, managing the process for termination and/or nonrenewal of employment, and interpreting/administering the district’s personnel policies.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in education, human resources, law, business administration, or a related field required.
  • Master’s degree or higher in Educational Leadership or a related field.
  • Three years of experience working in human resources, education and/or school administration.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of the public education system, issues, and policies governing personnel.
  • Experience resolving human resources, personnel, and employee relations issues, preferably in the public sector.
  • Experience with employee relations cases and employment law (ADA, FMLA, Fair Dismissal, and other federal and state employment laws/regulations).
  • Demonstrated experience working with complex data and metrics for reporting information, identifying issues, and making recommendations.
  • Experience in designing and delivering successful training programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software systems.
  • Knowledge of HR legal concepts, terminology, and principles, including federal and state labor laws.
  • Significant experience in managing multiple priorities independently and in a team environment to achieve goals.
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle many tasks at once.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, and a demonstrated customer-oriented and team effort approach.
  • Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills, including excellent grammar.
  • Advanced skill in presenting findings, conclusions, alternatives, and information clearly and concisely.
  • Knowledge of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Paid Parental Leave (PPL), reasonable accommodations, and other personnel laws, regulations, and procedures.
Description Of Duties
  • Provides direction, guidance, counseling, advice, and recommendations to school administrators and department supervisors regarding employee relations activities and personnel concerns.
  • Advises administrators, principals, and staff regarding employee relations matters and general human resources concerns.
  • Oversees the district’s performance management appraisal system, which includes managing the non-renewal process each school year for certified employees.
  • Facilitates the District’s grievance and disciplinary conference process.
  • Assists managers and staff with the employee performance management tools.
  • Provides support to staff and administrators to ensure that all evaluation deadlines are met on time.
  • Determines training needs for the organization in the areas of performance management, code of ethics, and general workplace issues and arranges or provides related training.
  • Develops and maintains written materials and other information regarding the district’s personnel policies and employee relations.
  • Explains and provides advice to employees about district policies, regulations, processes, procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Conducts investigations related to employee misconduct, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and sexual misconduct cases.
  • Collects and compiles relevant information, interviews witnesses, prepares witness statements, analyzes and summarizes facts, and provides recommendations for corrective disciplinary action that adhere to district policies and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Creates comprehensive investigative summary reports and prepares code of ethics complaints as needed.
  • Assists with open record requests and external complaint cases received.
  • Oversees the termination/nonrenewal process.
  • Participates and attends necessary training, in person or through webinars, required by the GADOE to stay abreast of current training techniques, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensures the timely filing of all required compliance reports for the department.
  • Explains and provides advice to employees about the district, state, and federal rules, regulations, and procedures, and the need for compliance.
  • Responsible for establishing high standards for customer service and timeliness of all tasks in the department.
  • Represents the District and HR at meetings with employees, administrators, and external stakeholders as requested.
  • Keeps abreast of legislative and professional trends and developments affecting employment and personnel functions.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance during regular business hours, and as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.
