Primary PurposeUnder general supervision, the Human Resources Generalist provides multiple human resources services to support all aspects of personnel duties and responsibilities within the department. Responsible for supporting human resources activities related to recruitment and retention, onboarding, employee relations, certification, position control, salary administration, and other human resources functions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field.
  • Four (4) years of human resources experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Preference will be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, demonstrate some or all of the following skills/experience:
  • Professional HR Certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, pHCLE).
  • At least two (2) years of human resources experience working in a multi-level or fast-paced environment supporting multiple business clients, OR experience working in education or the public sector in an HR Specialist, Generalist, or Analyst role.

  • Ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work in a very fast-paced environment while effectively and accurately managing multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to create reports and respond to requests for information on behalf of the department.
  • Ability to demonstrate effective active listening, critical thinking and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with limited direction.
  • Demonstrated excellent oral, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong proficiency in the use of HRIS, ERP, and other software applications.
  • Working knowledge of best practices in recruiting and hiring in compliance with Federal and State laws.
  • Ability to remain flexible in the face of changing and multiple priorities.
  • Experience working with complex data and metrics for entering data, generating reports , and presenting data.
  • Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other software systems.
  • Knowledge of HR legal concepts, terminology, and principles, including federal and state labor laws.
  • Experience in managing multiple priorities independently and in a team environment to achieve goals.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills, and a demonstrated customer-oriented and team effort approach.
  • Excellent oral, written, and verbal communication skills, including excellent grammar.
  • Knowledge of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Paid Parental Leave (PPL), reasonable accommodations, and other personnel laws, regulations, and procedures.
Description Of Duties
  • Applies analytical and professional expertise to multiple personnel disciplines such as hiring and onboarding, compensation, position control, FMLA administration, FLSA compliance, employee wellness, and other human resources functions.
  • Conducts research on various personal matters and compiles data, citing sources used.
  • Analyzes data or information to produce reports and other documents.
  • Assists with recruiting efforts and social media campaigns for attracting, recruiting, and retaining staff.
  • Coordinates and assists with training on human resources program-related topics and issues.
  • Develops, designs, and produces customized reports, charts, and other documents as requested.
  • Identifies current and prospective staffing requirements, prepares and posts notices and advertisements, and collects and screens applications.
  • Monitors the records management function including maintenance, retention, transfer, and disposition of personnel records and files.
  • Oversees the position allocation function for the district, including maintaining allotments and position changes.
  • Provides information and advice to employees, supervisors and managers regarding personnel issues.
  • Provides information and technical assistance in area(s) of assignment related to FMLA, salary administration, state and federal reporting, and special projects as assigned.
  • Provides technical assistance and consultation on human resources program issues.
  • Keeps abreast of legislative and professional trends and developments affecting employment and personnel functions.
  • Required to have prompt, regular attendance during regular business hours, and as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their designee.
