Director of Development, Chief of Staff to the CDO – Development – Corporate

The Director of Development, Chief of Staff to the Chief Development Officer, will have responsibility for supporting all high-level initiatives that roll up to the SVP within the Office of Development at NewYork-Presbyterian. Reporting to the CDO, this role will be a central figure to help organize, facilitate, and effectuate the responsibilities of the CDO and broader team. Provide organizational support to the Development leadership team to facilitate and ensure their effectiveness as leaders.

In collaboration with Development Leadership this role will serve as a key strategic leader on the team in support of NYP’s core fundraising programs, Strategic Plan, and current $2 billion Capital Campaign. The Director of Development, Chief of Staff to the CDO, will support the development and management of an integrated, metrics driven team which focuses on best practices, industry standards and specific activity goals. Assist with managing the CDO’s donor portfolio through the stewardship, cultivation, and solicitation process. Will collaborate with CDO and Special Events team on donor facing events. 

Preferred Criteria

  • Master’s degree

Required Criteria

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant annual giving/fundraising experience including 5 years of experience in online giving
  • Knowledge of and experience in online giving technologies such as peer-to-peer, crowdfunding, and social media
  • Experience building the donor pipeline from engagement through major gifts
  • Experience in the cultivation and solicitation of Annual and Online Gifts
  • Relevant track record in complex, fast-paced fundraising environment such as healthcare, higher education, cultural institutions, or nationally recognized research or advocacy enterprises
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Evidence of using data to improve performance
  • Strong management skills including the ability to motivate, unify, influence, and hold staff accountable to high standards and achievement of goals
  • Track record of working successfully with colleagues formally and informally, within one's team and across an organization
