NEXGEN TECHNOLOGIES INC. is Hiring a Remote Windows System Administrator (GIS/ArcGIS preferred)

NexGen is currently seeking a Windows Systems Administrator comfortable working with multiple teams and team members that report into different organizations. This individual will be required to work closely with members of the NexGen’s and client’s teams, including but not limited to subject matter experts, technical leads, and project managers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Study, understand and document the purpose, specific requirements, and desired outcomes for each program requiring the use of geospatial replication tools and processes.
  • Execute technical actions in support of Configuration Management process for introduction of new software and/or applicable version updates.
  • Create and manage data automation scripts using PowerShell, Python, and/or SQL scripts.
  • Complete windows and COTS software patching for systems on a manual and automated cycle.
  • Manage and support security system scans, vulnerability mitigation and reporting for all systems on a manual and automated cycle.
  • Manage file systems and disk resources.
  • Monitor hardware resource use and availability (CPU, Memory, Disk, Network) for all servers.
  • Support the currently deployed ESRI product suite and all future releases of the ESRI product line.
  • Administration of Esri Enterprise Geodatabases, supporting Versioning, Archiving, Replication, and other similar geodatabase functions.
  • Manage Active Directory (AD) objects (users, and groups) for authentication and authorization to GIS applications, files, folders, and ESRI Enterprise Geodatabases.
  • Troubleshoot geospatial software issues to ensure full functionality.
  • Provide technical guidance and assistance on Geospatial Enterprise corporate databases.
  • Operationally support and maintain the ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise environments including ESRI Portal, Datastore, and ArcGIS Server.
  • Manage and administer the datasets including privileges and indexes.
  • Assist GIS Technical Support Staff when needed as an expert in privileges, indexes, versions, replicas (enterprise geospatial database administration).
  • Document all server configurations and architecture settings.
  • Tuning the ArcGIS server environments and products running on the server environments.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Technical Skills/Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience with planning, designing, installing, configuring, testing, de-bugging, administering, maintaining, upgrading, and documenting Windows servers. 
  • Experience with documenting complex, technical processes.

Additional Skills:

  • The candidate should also possess strong oral and written communication, problem-solving skills, and should be a team player.
  • The successful candidate will also be able to pass background screening prior to employment.
  • US Citizenship, or legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of continuous US presence is required due to federal contract requirements.

Desired Skills:

  • MS Azure experience strongly desired (especially with Azure Monitor).
  • Experience with geospatial data, geodatabases, analysis, maps, services, and applications.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Powershell PSDSC
    • Python Scripting (2.X to 3.X)
    • Portal for ArcGIS
    • ArcGIS Online
    • ArcGIS Pro
    • Geodatabases

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or related discipline or equivalent experience.
