Title: Project Manager II

Role Type: 12 Month Contract, Contract Extension Probability High (1 Year) to Hire Potential

Annual $: Target $118,000-$145,000 (based on experience)

Will consider travel stipend if resource not local

Location: Baton Rouge or New Orleans, Louisiana

  • Residency in, or relocation to Louisiana is preferred for this position.

Role & Responsibilities:

NexTech is looking for a dynamic Project Manager II with extensive experience working within a large healthcare Payer/Insurance organization. Do you have 7 years of experience working within a PMO office and a passion for technology initiatives? Then this role might be for you! Our client has been undergoing major digital transformation and modernization projects throughout its enterprise and the Transformation Team is growing. This role will reside in the plan’s PMO office and report directly to Senior Program Management Team & Executive Leadership Stakeholders. This long-standing team is looking for an individual who the role of Project Management and has a passion for helping others through complex projects that involve a lot of change.

This role will be responsible for Senior (Project Management Level II-III) responsibilities and will be assigned projects, or multiple projects, aligned within a program of the Transformation Office. You will work with internal stakeholders to make and achieve commitments toward the delivery of specified project scope and objectives through developing plans and schedules, creating resource plans, monitoring resource plans, budget analysis, refining project estimates, and status report. Your experience hiring and growing teams will come in hand as you work hand in hand on internal and external contractor/vendor resource road mapping.

You will provide critical input on status reporting dashboards and reporting functionality as the internal PMO team delivers data in engaging formats for key stakeholders. You will conduct project meetings ensuring adherence to project management standards and quality, encouraging transparency, and fast feedback; reviews project deliverables and status reporting.

This position will be filled by either a Project Manager, or a Senior Project Manager, depending on Payer/Plan experience and overall career experience level. This role will be assigned a project, or multiple projects, with no guarantee that project responsibilities could change, or shift based on the internal needs of the team.

This position is required to be onsite for an initial 30-day ramp-up, with eligibility for hybrid and/or remote work based on project status, work performance and other organizational metrics determined by management. Role & Responsibilities:

  • Project Manager II responsibilities as assigned for PM duties from project initiation through final implementation
  • Highly detailed initiatives, deliver project scope and objectives, develop schedules, detailed project plans
  • Takes projects from project initiation through final implementation
  • Specifies and delivers project scope and objectives, develops detailed project plans and schedules, refines project estimates, creates resource plans, and status reports, conducts project meetings and ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables
  • Communicates project objectives, timelines, and milestones;
  • Ensure people involved in your projects know what they need to accomplish and are responsible for, keep things move for the team
  • Identifies project interdependencies and potential resource constraints; follows up with others to ensure they are on track to meet project timelines and objectives
  • Identifies and interfaces with all areas affected by the scope of the project including executives, senior leadership, business users, business analysts, IT staff and vendors in accomplishing project objectives.
  • Responsible for direct communication and management of IT staff and onshore/offshore staffing vendor resources.
  • Participates in business and technology planning, and ensures adherence to best practices, SDLC (System Development Life Cycle), and approved methodologies
  • Expert level experience makes managing change requests for project level scope seamless, provide suggestions for improvement or efficiency as required
  • Manage schedule and budget changes throughout the project life cycle
  • Represents projects in executive level presentations, project review meetings, and other departmental forums
  • Work with senior management to resolve more complex problems
  • Creates and delivers presentations on various aspects of the project to management
  • Responsible for mentoring and overseeing the work of other project managers, project coordinators and team contributors

Position Requirements:

  • PMP Certification Active, long-standing PMP certification and/or other technical training, certifications
  • Scrum Master Certification Active or equivalent Scrum Master Experience
  • 7 years MS Project or similar project management tools
  • Advanced understanding of health payer industry, common terms & acronyms
  • Previous experience understanding government mandates and or state healthcare requirements
  • Collaboration Tools & MS Office
  • 3 Years Digital Transformation Experience, Understanding of Current Digital Transformation trends
  • Led/Managed team of 5 or more
  • Experience working with, or managing budgets, of $5M or more
  • Experience working with 1–3-year long-term projects and projects, budget forecasts
  • Experience in vendor selection, vendor scorecard management & defining scorecard metrics a bonus

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, computer science, information systems, business administration
  • PMP Certification That Is Current
  • Other Technology Certifications Preferred, not required
  • Associate's degree, or 10 years equivalent experience is acceptable
  • Master’s Degree preferred, not required

Location/Office Environment:

  • Residency in, or relocation to Louisiana is preferred for this position.
