The Accident & Claims Specialist is responsible for the timely coordination of accident and traffic violation reporting, investigation of accidents and traffic violations and documenting information. They will initiate the accident file set up. The position is also responsible for the coordination of information between Safety and the Legal Department in preparation for litigation of accident cases. This position reports to the Accident Intake manager.

• Takes and completes first report of accidents and traffic violations
• Corresponds and coordinates with drivers, managers and the legal department at all process levels of the intake
• Maintains accident files documentation
• Reviews police reports, traffic violations and all other pertinent information to determine company liability for accidents and traffic violations
• Coordinates with Maintenance Departments for repair orders and operation for photographs in order to provide documentation to parties causing damage to company property/equipment
• Retrieves, reads and interprets information from our Mobile Communication System (Critical Events, Hours of Service and equipment status)
• Retrieves video events from our dash cameras to determine cause of accidents.
• Provides departmental related correspondence and weekly/monthly reports as needed under direction of Accident Intake manager
• Maintains DOT accident register
• Participates on weekly Safe Net calls
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Accident Intake manager

• BA or BS degree preferred, High School GED or equivalent required
• 3-5 years Transportation safety experience
• Accident and claims management experience
• Computer applications using MS Office
• Excellent oral and written communication skills, including strong verbal, written and listening skills
• Strong analytical skills and organizational skills
• Comfortable with a fast-paced work environment and proficient in multi-tasking.
• Capacity to work effectively under pressure and handle stressful situations calmly
• Able to speak and read Spanish a plus
• Ability and availability to work irregular or extended hours including nights, weekends and potentially holidays as needed
