Position InformationPosition Title Part Time Music InstructorPosition Category FacultyPosition StatusFLSA ExemptAdvertised Salary $884 per lecture hour/$792 per lab hour.Department Arts, Humanities and Social SciencesWorking HoursGeneral DescriptionNiagara County Community College has a need for a part-time instructor of Music for Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences department. Classes are held on the NCCC main campus located in Sanborn, NY. Classes are generally held any time between Monday – Friday between the hours of 9am – 6pm. Also during concerts/events you may need to work on Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons, therefore the successful candidate would need to have a flexible schedule.Remuneration for this position is: $884 per lecture hour/$792 per lab hour.In order to build and maintain an active pool of qualified candidates to meet our present and future needs for this position, Niagara County Community College will accept applications on a continuous basis. Openings may or may not exist at this time. Applications are evaluated on an as-needed basis, and candidates will be contacted when the department has an opening. Candidates that submit their information may or may not be notified as to the status of their application.Typical Work Activities
  • Teach courses in the delivery format agreed upon
  • Track attendance as needed
  • Report on student learning outcomes at the end of the semester
  • Report grades at the conclusion of the semesterEssential FunctionsAbility to work with, and teach a student population with diverse backgrounds. Ability to speak in front of groups of people. Must be able to effectively communicate with students, co-workers, supervisors and the campus community. Must be able to develop, prepare and present information. Must able to operate computers. Must be able to physically perform the duties of the position.Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Music 6 years of experience of teaching at a college/high school or professional level Ability to communicate and teach students at all levels of musicianship.Desirable Qualifications Master’s degree in Music or Doctor of Musical Arts Experience teaching courses in Guitar, Jazz Band/Ensemble, Piano Professional performance experience; Experience teaching college-level courses; Experience with instructional technology; Ability to read musicLicense(s)/CertificationsAbout SUNY NiagaraOur college nurtures and empowers its students and employees in ways that recognize and value our common humanity as well as the richness of our diversity.
